Fran Escriba admitted Elche were given an 'impossible' task when they were drawn Barcelona in the Copa del Rey last 16.
The Valencians were demolished 9-0 on aggregate by La Blaugrana, and the Coach conceded his side had no chance of achieving an unlikely upset, even prior to their 5-0 defeat in the first leg.
“It was impossible because they're better than us,” he said after the game.
"We have no choice but to focus Sunday's game [against Levante in La Liga]. Barca could have done more damage if they wanted to.
“The defeat may come in handy as we can try now to hurt [Levante] with the lessons we learned, and we could give minutes to several of our younger players.
“Barca have better individuals, but Atletico [Madrid] are one of the best teams in the world. They had a difficult tie and resolved it relatively easily.”
