Almeria lacked shots on goal says JIM

Juan Ignacio Martinez bemoaned his side’s lack of shots on goal in the 1-0 Copa del Rey defeat to Getafe on Wednesday night.

Alvaro Vazquez rounded goalkeeper Julian Cuesta with 16 minutes remaining to give the Madrid side a 2-1 aggregate victory and set up a quarter-final clash with in-form Villarreal, and Martinez was with unhappy with his side’s performance.

“In the first leg in Almeria we didn’t play too badly but today we made it very difficult to get through because we didn’t have any shots, but congratulations to Getafe,” JIM told reporters post-match.

“Sometimes there’s not a lot of importance attached to the Cup but we came here with players from the first team and intended winning.

“With so few chances we made it tough because we needed at least a goal. I’m competitive and I like to win but we didn’t play well,” he admitted.
