Berizzo ‘satisfied’ at Celta victory

Celta Vigo boss Eduardo Berizzo said he was ‘satisfied’ with his team’s 2-0 win over Athletic Bilbao despite going out of the Copa del Rey.

Xabier Etxeita scored an own goal just after the break and Fabian Orellana converted a penalty on the hour mark to put the visitors 2-0 up at San Mames and level 4-4 on aggregate.

However, Berizzo’s men were unable to find a third and crashed out of the competition as the Basques scraped through on away goals to set up a quarter-final tie with Malaga.

“I’m satisfied because we were very solid and managed to find the goal,” the Argentine told reporters post-match.

“The game went as expected but we lacked the killer touch at the end, when Santi Mina crossed for Charles, which would have settled the match and the tie.

“We could even have won 3-0 and it wouldn’t have been strange. But we were missing something near the end when the changes Athletic made gave them more strength.

“Today we showed signs of being a brave team and we restored some confidence. Winning is always good despite having been eliminated,” he explained.
