Aston Villa have confirmed the €4m signing of midfielder Carles Gil from Valencia subject to international clearance.
The 22-year-old [pictured, right] has penned a four-and-a-half year deal at Villa Park and promised fans of the Premier League outfit he is ready to “make things happen”.
“Once I knew Villa were interested in me I wanted to join and am really looking forward to playing here and showing fans what I can do,” Gil told reporters.
“I can play on either wing or in central midfield and I like to be part of the team. I want to make things happen for my teammates.
“This is very historic club and a very important one in the Premier League, so I’m excited to be playing for such a great club in a League that is the top one in the world.”
Villa boss Paul Lambert has been on the lookout for a creative midfielder to supply the ammunition for his shot-shy strikers, and in particular Cristian Benteke, and feels Gil will bring something different to his team.
“We’ve been searching for a creative player and he’ll certainly bring an extra element to the side,” maintained Lambert.
“He’s only 22 but will come here and give us something I think we are lacking at the moment.
“He can play either role, coming in off the sides or playing in behind as well. He can create chances and get those chances put away.
“He has a lot to offer and I know we can get the best out of him.”
