Alcaraz: ‘Win for Levante important’

Levante boss Lucas Alcaraz felt it was important his side tasted victory in the 3-2 Copa del Rey defeat of Malaga, despite going out of the competition.

David Barral’s second-half brace and Juanfran’s late winner were not enough to prevent the Granotes from suffering a 4-3 aggregate loss, Ricardo Horta and Recio having put the Costa del Sol outfit in control before the break at the Ciutat de Valencia.

Even so, Alcaraz insisted it was vital his team had got back to winning ways.

“We won a football match again, with all the feelings that go with it, and managed to make a comeback,” Alcaraz told a Press conference.

“They went 2-0 up very easily but my team never lay down even though the tie was over, although if we’d have made it 4-2 late on we might have gone through.”

Alcaraz was asked about the possibility of strengthening in the winter transfer market with his side sitting in the bottom three.

“I don’t know anything about the market, that’s down to the club, so I’m working with what I have.

“I’m happy with the lads. Bringing players in is something that could happen but it doesn’t worry me as there are people at the club who take care of that,” he explained.
