Jemez laments Rayo mistakes

Rayo Vallecano boss Paco Jemez said opponents always take advantage of his team’s mistakes following Monday’s 1-0 home defeat to Cordoba.

Rayo missed the opportunity to move into the top half of the table after Abdoulaye Ba’s own goal on 39 minutes secured victory for Cordoba, who climb out of the relegation zone with a third success in the last five games having failed to win any of their first 13 La Liga matches.

“I get the feeling that, at times, teams go away with the three points here because they take advantage of our mistakes,” Jemez told a post-match Press conference.

“Whenever you lose there is always a bad feeling. We tried to win but sometimes you are disappointed at how games go.

“If we play like that 100 times we’d only lose once and that was today. We did more than enough to have won it but we were unsuccessful and paid the price.

“We do what we can. Sometimes we try everything but today wasn’t our day. The only mistake we made cost us but we must remain confident.

“It would have been an important win for us as it would have put us in a good position to fight for important things, while we obviously hoped for a better result.

“The team created chances yet it didn’t turn out well, although I believe we played better than our opponents, but sometimes you lose,” he lamented.
