Steve McClaren has confirmed that Derby County are in talks to sign Eibar defender Raul Albentosa.
Reports in Spain last week suggested that the Championship high-fliers had agreed a fee of €600,000 with the Basque minnows for the centre-back, and the England manager has now corroborated these claims.
“[Albentosa] is someone we have pursued and we are trying to do a deal,” he was quoted as saying by The Derby Telegraph.
“We are looking at him and we are interested but I don’t know where we are at the present moment with it.”
Albentosa, 26, joined Eibar in the summer of 2013 from Cadiz and has played a key role in the side's impressive start to life in La Liga this season after helping them achieve promotion.
