Flores: No Getafe overhaul

Quique Sanchez Flores has insisted that he does not plan to stage a mass overhaul at Getafe after praising the work of his predecessor Cosmin Contra.

The Coach kicked off his second spell in charge of Los Azulones with a 1-1 draw at Almeria in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday, and he expressed his desire to get the best out of his players rather than resort to any quick fixes in January.

“We find ourselves in a whirlwind of matches and don’t have much time to work on things or refresh the squad,” he said at a Press conference.

“What we want is that the entire squad fully recover so they can approach the game as best as possible.

“We’re now thinking about we can do and can’t do. I don’t want to cause a lack of understanding or jeopardise the team.

“This wasn’t a traumatic change of Coach. We’ll add our own refinements, knowing that the previous Coach served us well. We’ll gradually add value to the team.”

The former Valencia and Atletico Madrid boss then warned his team of the perils awaiting them at Ipurua ahead of their encounter with Eibar this evening.

“We’ll be playing against very tough and serious opponents who have made an extraordinary transition to La Liga, so we must do things very well,” he added.

“Eibar are a very strong team who are in good form and not easy to play against, so we must do what is usually needed against the big teams.

“We plan to do a few things but do them well. From there, we’ll see if we succeed with our idea of the game.”
