Man United offer Valdes contract

Manchester United have offered former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes an 18-month contract.

Reports in England claim the Reds have been impressed with the 32-year-old, who has been training with them since the end of October following his cruciate ligament injury.

The Daily Star insists that on signing for United the Spain stopper would also receive a compensation package from French club Monaco, who had agreed to sign Valdes but pulled the plug on the deal after he suffered his knee injury 10 months ago.

According to the report, Monaco have agreed to stump up the difference between the contract he penned with them and the one he may sign at United.

Valdes has been attempting to keep up his fitness with the Premier League giants and has even featured in a behind-closed-doors match at Carrington, United’s training complex, while being put through his paces alongside David De Gea, Anders Lindegaard and Ben Amos.
