Gracia ‘delighted’ with Malaga win

Malaga boss Javi Gracia declared himself delighted with his players after the 2-0 Copa del Rey home victory over Levante.

The Blanquiazules suffered a shock 2-1 loss to Almeria at La Rosaleda last weekend and Gracia was pleased at the way his players responded to the setback against Lucas Alcaraz’s men.

Youngster Juanpi opened the scoring on 16 minutes before Ricardo Horta wrapped things up 12 minutes from time, leaving the Costa del Sol outfit favourites to progress to the quarter-finals.

“Today’s game helped us a lot and takes away the bad taste of our last result, which was a slip-up,” Gracia told reporters post-match.

“It was a very comprehensive game in terms of how we played and we showed a lot of mobility, passed the ball precisely, alternated the play and created a lot of chances.

“I’m delighted but this is only the first part of a job well done, although if we’d have been more clinical then the margin could have been wider.

“It will be very difficult to get through to the next round and I’m aware we still have the second half of the tie to come,” he conceded.
