Madrid have spoken to Petr Cech

Petr Cech’s agent has confirmed reports that the Chelsea goalkeeper has been involved in talks with Real Madrid.

The 32-year-old had been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge since Thibaut Courtois’ returned to the club and took the No 1 jersey, following his loan agreement with Atletico Madrid.

However, the player’s agent Victor Kolar admits talks were held with the European champions over a proposed switch to the Santiago Bernabeu, although any move is unlikely to take place in the January transfer window.

“We’ve had contact with Real Madrid but they don’t need a ‘keeper right now,” Kolar was quoted as saying by the Daily Star.

“It’s unlikely Petr will leave in the transfer window because the club and Coach want to keep him to help win the title.

“Petr still has ambitions to play as many games as possible but that’s impossible now. Even so, he has a good feeling at the overall attitude towards him and that’s important.

“The club show him respect and treat him the same way as if he was first choice. The agreement is, and Jose [Mourinho] fulfils it, that Petr should be given the chance to maintain his match sharpness.

“I’m sure it’s a big advantage for a manager when he has two top goalkeepers.”

Cech has also been courted by the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal, while Roma, Atletico Madrid and Besiktas are all believed to be keeping an eye on his situation.
