Ramos ‘not worried about Madrid deal’

Sergio Ramos insists there’s no need to be concerned over his Real Madrid contract extension and says he is very close to Florentino Perez.

Ramos allegedly told former Madrid director of football Arrigo Sacchi that Perez wants him to agree a wage cut and suggested he wasn’t sure if he should.

Sacchi revealed the conversation to the Press and Ramos was asked where he stands in an interview reported by AS.

“I don’t think Sacchi had any bad intentions. I was surprised because I haven’t talked about my renewal with anyone,” Ramos began.

“My brother is leading that. We talked about the situation but never talked about money. I have a lot of love for him but I haven’t talked about these issues with anyone.

“It’s something that doesn’t worry me at all. I’ve got two years on my contract and I’ve never called on the club. We’ve had appointments to speak, but there’s no hurry. It depends on the club, not me.

“Thanks to [Perez] I fulfilled a dream by coming to the biggest club in the world and I’ll be eternally grateful. Our relationship is very close and we talk often.

“We’ve had our ups and downs but always with respect. But my brother and my father are in charge of my contract.”

Ramos was also asked about the status of his relationship with Cesc Fabregas after he appeared to question the Chelsea midfielder’s commitment to Spain.

“I’ve always had a good relationship with Cesc. We’ve been together in the national team for a long time and we just had a difference of opinion,” he noted.
