‘He’s Pedro, not Pedrito!’

Andoni Zubizarreta has lavished praise on Pedro Rodriguez following the Barcelona forward's influential performance against Cordoba on Saturday.

The 27-year-old broke the deadlock within two minutes at Camp Nou, before setting up Luis Suarez's first La Liga goal in the second half, leading the sporting director to single him out after the side's eventual 5-0 victory.

"Winning at home is always important. We managed the game well thanks to a goal from Pedro. What we lacked against Getafe was on show [against Cordoba]," he told reporters.

"Pedro's an exceptional player, with great capacity to improve and find space. He also has great finishing ability. He's not Pedrito, he's Pedro…

"Luis gives us more than just goals, but sometimes strikers are only measured by the goals they score.

"Montoya's a player we really appreciate, but there's a lot of competition in the squad. It's why Adriano and Neymar were on the bench.

"Let's wait until the end of the season. It's been a year in which we've experienced both exciting and difficult things. We've learned a lot.

"The only objective for 2015 is good health, and in sports we will do our best. From day one, Real, Atletico and the Cup will await us."
