Espanyol boss Sergio Gonzalez is demanding his team go all out for victory over Alaves in the Copa del Rey, despite holding a 2-0 first-leg lead.
“It’s obvious we have that advantage but playing at home you must always go out to win the game,” he told a Press conference.
“It’s right that Espanyol do that, as we do in all games, and we must treat this as if it was the first game.
“Some of our squad who have not featured in La Liga so much will play, but they showed in the away game they were committed and ready to take advantage of the situation.
“It’s not an examination for them, because that only happens at university, but it’s a unique opportunity to seize their chance.”
Sergio believes the fans at the Power8 Stadium can also play their part in ensuring Los Pericos progress to the next round.
“Without them we are half a team. We know the schedule is demanding and it is a weekday, but we hope as much as possible they come and support us.
“With them behind us we are a much stronger team,” he claimed.
