Cruzeiro reject second Madrid bid

Brazilian outfit Cruzeiro have rejected a second offer from Real Madrid to sign midfielder Lucas Silva.

According to reports in South America, officials from both clubs have met to decide on the transfer but the European Champions have again had their bid for the player turned down.

Cruzeiro are sticking to their guns and are insisting that the 21-year-old will not leave for less than €15m, despite Madrid’s second offer being in excess of the initial €12m they proposed.

In the meantime, AS reports that Arsenal have already confirmed they are willing to pay the price Cruzeiro are demanding, although Silva is understood to have made it clear that Madrid is his preferred option.

Additionally, MG Superesportes are reporting that Cruzeiro themselves would like Silva to remain in Belo Horizonte and are willing to negotiate a new deal, something the player’s father has recommended, having said that the best thing for his son would be to remain in Brazil until next summer.
