Barca put eight past Huesca

Barcelona have strolled into the next round of the Copa Del Rey with a ruthless win over minnows Huesca.

The tie was 4-0 in the Catalans’ favour from the first leg and Barca quickly increased the advantage, Pedro Rodriguez, netting twice inside half-an-hour. Sergi Roberto made it three, still before the 30-minute mark.

Andres Iniesta chipped in with the fourth before half-time and there was time for Pedro to complete his hat-trick with a powerful fifth.

Adriano added to the rout in the second half while Adama Traore caught the eye with a scoring cameo, the hulking teenager looking another fine prospect.

Sandro Ramirez netted as well but Carlos David’s late consolation for Huesca gave the visitors a nice moment, and perhaps concern for Luis Enrique as the marking from the corner was less than perfect.

Barca made four changes from the side that beat Huesca 4-0 in the first leg, including fielding want-away right-back Martin Montoya from the start, while Jordi Masip made his senior debut in goal.

The first chance of the game fell to Huesca when Javier Mascherano slipped and Juan Esnaider was able to meet a cross unmarked, but the header went wide.

Esnaider was much closer moments later, hitting the post with a looping header, while Pedro sent an effort at Dani Jaminez that was easily dealt with.

Jimenez was more tested by Marc Bartra’s run and shot but Huesca were getting behind the Barca defence regularly, only lacking the composure to make something from it.

Pedro showed Huesca how it’s done when he converted Munir’s cross after Barca sprung the visitors’ high line, making it 5-0 on aggregate.

It was six overall and two on the night shortly after, Pedro again, this time from an Iniesta ball over the top.

A Montoya cross was converted by Sergi as Barca’s dominance continued and so did the goals, Iniesta drilling into the far corner.

Alex Bernal was able to get behind the Barca defence late in the half but lacked composure with his finish – not something of which Pedro can be accused as he put Huesca to the sword.

Pedro departed at half-time and his replacement Sandro drew a save from Jimenez as Barca refused to let up.

Douglas was the other half-time introduction, making his home debut, but the Barca tempo was understandably lower.

Adriano broke the slumber with the night’s sixth goal, having moved further forward following the deployment of Douglas.

A powerful run from Sergi should have led to a Sandro goal but the finish was poor. It wasn’t a mistake made by Adama, who matched the power to shrug off the defenders with the precision to beat Jimenez.

Sandro finally scored as the game entered the last 10 minutes, sending an accurate finish past Jimenez, while David’s goal at least gave Huesca something to smile about before the final whistle.
