Marcelino happy at Europa League draw

Villarreal boss Marcelino says he is happy with the Europa League draw after seeing his side paired with Austrian outfit Red Bull Salzburg.

However, the Asturian admitted he does not know too much about the Yellow Submarine’s opponents as yet.

“Firstly, I have to say I know very little about our opponents, although we are going to learn everything about them thoroughly,” he told a Press conference.

“I was following the draw and there were a lot of teams that could have presented us with difficulties, so it could have been worse.

“But I think that when a team doesn’t compete in one of the big Leagues it gives them a lower level of competitiveness.”

Even so, Marcelino is aware that Salzburg are a good team and will be treating them with the utmost respect.

“We will need to study them and we’ve got two months to do that so we’ll see how things stand when the game comes around.

“We knew we were going to compete in three competitions this season and we have strengthened some of our weaker positions.

“We’re pleased with the additions made and also with the team’s performances, but we still have two games left before the break.”
