Ancelotti: 2014 not over yet

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti says 2014 is far from over as his team prepares to play in the Club World Cup in Morocco.

Los Blancos face Mexican outfit Cruz Azul in the semi-final in Marrakech on Tuesday, the venue having been changed from Rabat where the pitch was heavily waterlogged, and the Italian is looking to round off an unforgettable year at the club.

“We have to play this game on a good pitch and I think Marrakech has a good pitch,” he told a Press conference.

“We didn’t ask for the change of stadium. We were told and we complied, although 2014 is not over yet.

“This tournament is very important and all the teams have done a great job in getting here. To win it would end a memorable year.

“But Cruz Azul are a team with lots of experience. I know their style of play, yet all teams that reach semi-finals are dangerous.

“We’ll have to play a good game because they play good football and use the qualities they have in their team.”

Ancelotti was asked about the ongoing talks with central defender Sergio Ramos over a new contract.

“I don’t need to say anything because I know the club wants to renew and I know he wants to stay.

“However, everyone has their own opinion,” he noted.
