Caparros rues Granada loss

Granada boss Joaquin Caparros was left to rue his side’s inability to shut up shop after going down to a late Christian Stuani strike at Espanyol.

The Uruguayan claimed all three points for Los Pericos in stoppage time after Youssef El-Arabi had got the Andalusians back into the match on the hour mark, following Felipe Caicedo’s 34th-minute opener.

However, Caparros told reporters he was not concerned with how the game had developed but the fact his team had failed to take anything away from the Power8 Stadium.

“The only thing that matters in this game is the points, so we must now look forward to the Copa del Rey game with Cordoba in midweek,” he declared.

“I think in this game they were stronger in the second half, with Sergio Garcia and Stuani, but we played well before the break and it could have been a different story.

“We must break this bad streak we are on and try to put this year behind us as soon as possible.”
