Sergio upbeat after Espanyol victory

Espanyol boss Sergio Gonzalez declared himself upbeat following the 2-1 home victory over struggling Granada.

Christian Stuani struck the winner for the Barcelona side in stoppage time and Sergio said afterwards that it would give his players inspiration for the rest of the season, particularly away from the Power8 Stadium where his team is yet to achieve a win.

“My team is confident so there is nothing to stop us going away and putting an end to our bad run once and for all, because in life and in football you need to be ambitious,” he told a Press conference.

“In this game the first half was a bit dull, although we scored a goal and the two chances Granada had they failed to take.

“However, in the second half we reacted well and controlled the game, so it was good to make up for the five goals we conceded last week against Barcelona.

“The winning goal was a cracker and was the result of us trying everything we knew after the break.

“It’s a luxury for me to have a front three of Stuani, Sergio Garcia and Felipe Caicedo. My problem is to choose between them,” he commented.
