Real Sociedad boss David Moyes was critical of his team after the 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao in the Basque derby.

The former Everton and Manchester United supremo saw his side take an early lead through Carlos Vela, only for Oscar de Marcos to equalise just after the hour mark, prompting Moyes to declare that his team lacked the necessary physical condition.

“We played well in the first half but didn’t maintain it after the break and our energy levels dipped,” admitted the Scot at the post-match Press conference.

“We need to play with the same intensity for the whole 90 minutes, not just for the first 40 or 60, and I told the players that playing as we did before the break we’d have won the game.

“Having said that, I saw an improvement from the last game against Villarreal and we are growing together, but we must be more consistent and correct the small mistakes.

“We have to be more precise with the ball. We did that in the first half but struggled in the second and I’m annoyed with the result, although I enjoyed my first derby here.”
