Diego Simeone bore no hard feelings after Atletico Madrid's 1-0 defeat to Villarreal on Sunday. "I'm happy for Luciano Vietto."

The Coach handed the Yellow Submarine forward his debut at Racing Club in Argentina, and he praised his former charge for scoring the winning goal which ended Los Colchoneros' year-long unbeaten run at home.

"I only speak of the match because I'm only aware of the game. The match was even, with chances for both teams. He who took more risks had more chance of winning," he said after the match.

"The match was decided by a goal from Vietto and I'm happy for him, even though we went a year without losing here [before his goal].

"Maybe in the last 20 minutes there was some degree of imbalance. They also scored a nice goal on the counterattack, so we must congratulate our opponents and prepare for the next game."

The match became shrouded in controversy after Mario Mandzukic's header on the hour mark was questionably ruled out for offside, but Simeone refused to point his finger at the referee.

"I won't talk about the referee. It's not fair and less so when you lose. The atmosphere seemed good, though," he concluded.
