Atletico Madrid have reportedly turned down a €22m bid from Manchester City for Jose Maria Gimenez.
The Uruguayan centre-back has flourished in the recent absence of Joao Miranda, and AS reports today that the 19-year-old had been the subject of a huge offer from the English champions 10 days ago.
However, in light of the both the Brazilian and Diego Godin's advancing years, Los Colchoneros rejected City's overtures as they plan to keep hold of Gimenez for the long haul.
Nonetheless, Manuel Pellegrini's side are expected to return with another bid for the former Danubio starlet in the summer.
