Arda Turan has emphasised the importance of Atletico Madrid's encounter with Villarreal on Sunday. "The match is a final."
Los Colchoneros head into La Liga Week 15 four points behind leaders Real Madrid, and the Turkish midfielder is aware that anything other than a win at the Vicente Calderon would potentially result in the side drifting further away from title contention.
"I'm thrilled to have been chosen by the fans as their player of the month," he said at a Press conference today.
"I value this award a lot, but for me the most important thing is that the team are having a great championship.
"We get better and better every game. We finished November well, but we hope to finish the season just as well.
"The match against Villarreal is a final. We want to give happiness to our fans, and we're very focused on securing the win.
"We feel very good when we play at home, we're very powerful. If we want to be one of the League's greats, we must continue like this."
