Almeria appoint Martinez

Almeria have named Juan Ignacio Martinez as their new Coach following the dismissal of Francisco earlier in the week.

The 50-year-old has agreed an 18-month deal with the Andalucian club but will not assume match duties until the aftermath of Friday's encounter with Real Madrid.

Almeria have plummeted to the lower reaches of La Liga after a run of eight matches without a win, costing their former striker his job in the process.

Martinez has plenty of experience in Spain's top flight, having guided Levante to back-to-back Primera campaigns between 2011 and 2013.

The trainer's first season with the Valencians was hugely successful, finishing sixth and qualifying for the Europa League, but he could not keep Valladolid afloat last term.
