‘Madrid mustn’t underestimate CWC’

Nayim has warned Real Madrid to value the Club World Cup with 'sufficient importance' or face an early exit from the competition.

Los Blancos are due to participate in the Morocco-based tournament, which starts on Wednesday, but they will not play for another week as they have been seeded entry into the semi-finals.

However, Madrid have been advised by the former Barcelona and Zaragoza star, who is of Moroccan extract, to respect their fellow confederation champions.

"Real Madrid will win the Club World Cup if they give sufficient importance to the tournament, but anything can happen in one game," he was quoted as saying by AS.

"It should be very exciting for their players because it's a unique opportunity for them to see the world.

"Moghreb will be at home with many fans behind them. They're a team who tries to play football.

"They play with the ball very well, and although it isn't at the same level as European leagues, Moroccan football has become more professional in recent years.

"The best teams from each continent will feature, but above all Real Madrid give prestige to the tournament, as they're a club very much followed in Morocco.

"The Moroccan fans are very passionate. Like the football stadiums in Spain, there won't be an empty seat.

"Thousands of fans will travel to Rabat from Tetouan – a distance of about 300km – so it will be a very special occasion. Their fans don't stop singing!"
