Tebas draws intolerance lines

LFP President Javier Tebas praised Real Madrid for their hard line on intolerant chanting. "We only speak of chants which defy respect."

Los Blancos banned 17 supporters from entering Santiago Bernabeu for singing anti-Barcelona chants during Saturday's 3-0 victory over Celta Vigo.

Subsequently, Tebas backed the club's stance on fan violence and vowed to 'bring down the monster'.

"Maybe the referee didn't hear the chants," he told Cadena SER.

"Neither do I believe that RFEF told [referee Alberto Undiano Mallenco] to ignore the insults, but I'll continue to support the idea that the referees haven't heard these chants.

"There are two types of insults. We only speak of insults and intolerant chants which defy respect to ideas and beliefs.

"Florentino Perez has led a fight against this, and I believe he must be congratulated because it's not the first time he's done so.

"There was a law proposed in 2007 at the Bernabeu, which denounced excessive swearing and shouting. I ordered for it to be rejected.

"I was wrong to not see this as a problem in football, but I won't be mistaken again.

"We have raised a monster which must be put down. We've taken this decision [to file a complaint] and will continue in this line.

"If it's true that they've expelled 17 fans, then that's what we'll do – remove groups of fans."
