‘Espanyol not scared of Barca’

Sergio insists Espanyol will not suffer from 'stage fright' when they face Barcelona in Sunday's Catalan derby.

Los Periquitos are on their best run since February, having achieved back-to-back wins against Levante and Alaves, and the Coach believes his side have shown him enough to suggest that a victory over their fiercest rivals is not beyond the realms of possibility.

"There'll be no stage fright. The opponents will be very difficult, but a win isn't impossible," he told reporters at a Press conference.

"The week's been good, the team are upbeat and feeling confident about having a great game.

"We've worked on which buttons [of Barca's] to press and how to deal with the latter spells of the match.

"The game will be very complicated, but we must step forward and show we're a good team and can compete [with Barca]. That's the most important thing.

"We must abort their inside passes because that's where they generate their play. They're less dangerous out wide.

"It's vital that we're intense, strong in the tackle and tightly packed.

"My relationship with Luis [Enrique] is fluent. We were close in South Korea [on Spain duty in 2002] and laughed together.

"As a person, he's great. In football, he's proving why he's at Barca. I wish him luck but only after the match with us!"
