Madrid to wrap up Odegaard signing?

Real Madrid are eager to wrap up the details of the signing of 15-year-old Martin Odegaard to prevent another ‘Neymar fiasco.’

Marca report that Odegaard is expected to choose Los Blancos out of his numerous other suitors with a decision to come next week.

Having lost out on Neymar at a similar age, it’s said that Madrid are going to see through every part of the transfer so Odegaard doesn’t get away.

Neymar trained with the Madrid youngsters, including current first team member Dani Carvajal, but boardroom ructions meant the transfer wasn’t followed up on despite a pre-contract having been signed in 2011. The Brazil forward eventually joined Barcelona.

Odegaard has trained with Liverpool and dined with Reds midfielder Philippe Coutinho, but a five-year deal is on the table at Santiago Bernabeu.

The contract will come into effect when Odegaard turns 16 later this month, at which point he will leave current club Stromsgodset.

Norway aren’t members of the EU but are part of the European Free Trade Association and Odegaard is as a result treated as an EU citizen when it comes to his registration.

Odegaard and Marco Asensio, the Real Mallorca winger linked with Madrid, are two examples of Florentino Perez’s intention to sign more young players, Marca add.
