Nuno pleased with Rayo win

Nuno Santo was happy to see Valencia take an away win against Rayo Vallecano in the first leg of their Copa del Rey tie.

Alex Moreno put the hosts in front in the first half but two goals in the final 20 minutes, the first from Paco Alcacer before Rodrigo de Paul’s 84th-minute winner, put Los Che in the driving seat ahead of the return bout.

“I’m very happy with this result and the tie is on track,” Nuno said, AS reports.

“Rayo have a very good team. Paco Jemez has 18 new players and there is a lot of merit to their work.

“There were two parts to the game. At first we struggled to get the ball against a young team, where they have played a lot of new players, but I liked the second half.

“We have adjusted and I’m very happy for the players because the same team lifted the game.

“We’ve seen Valencia overturn games and to do it here in Vallecas is very valuable.

“I’m happy for De Paul and the good game he has played. He still has a lot to learn, he enjoys football and I’m happy for him.”
