Pedro: Celebration not anti-Enrique

Barcelona striker Pedro has denied his celebrations after scoring against Huesca were directed at boss Luis Enrique.

Pedro notched Barca’s third goal in their
4-0 Copa del Rey victory over minnows Huesca
and ran over to the bench to celebrate with defender Martin Montoya, who was one of the substitutes and has made just one Primera start under Enrique this season.

However, Pedro was at pains to point out it was nothing personal and was not a message to Enrique for not selecting his teammate, but just his delight at having got on the scoresheet.

“I get along well with Martin and we agreed that if I scored I’d dedicate the goal to him,” he told reporters post-match.

“The celebration with Montoya was not against the Coach. I was happy to score.

“Goals go in spurts and it was a matter of seizing the opportunity.”
