Deportivo la Coruna President Tino Fernandez says he will expel the ‘Riazor Blues’ Ultras from the club’s stadium.
It follows the death of a Depor supporter on Sunday before the game with Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon, when rival groups from the two clubs allegedly arranged to meet before the game for a pitched battle.
The Galicians entertain Malaga in a Copa del Rey clash on Wednesday, while the same two sides meet in La Liga three days later, and the area where the ‘Riazor Blues’ congregate behind the goal has been provisionally closed off for both games.
However, Fernandez is confident the group will no longer be allowed to attend future fixtures at Riazor.
“I’m sure there will be no more ‘Riazor Blues’ in the stadium,” he told Onda Cero’s ‘Al Primer Toque’ programme.
“The first step is to close the part where they are located for the next two games and this is the first method we’ve applied as there is still an open investigation.
“On Saturday we are going to convert the League match into an open demonstration against violence.
“Right now we don’t have a single document or the names of those involved, but for the people implicated we are going to throw them out.
“Within 48 hours we have to make a decision about the ‘Riazor Blues’ and we want this change to happen.
“The death of a supporter was a disgrace for all concerned,” he declared.
