‘Almeria maybe Rayo’s biggest game’

Paco Jemez made no attempt to downplay the importance of Rayo Vallecano’s trip to Almeria. ‘This might be our biggest game.’

Rayo go to Juegos Mediterraneos on Monday evening with the teams separated by four points, but a home win would cut the visitors’ cushion on the relegation places.

“They are a team who are doing relatively well. We played them at a similar time last year and they are in a difficult situation. For us it’s a very important game,” Jemez told a Press conference.

“I’ve told the players that this is possibly the biggest game we have, for the form and the situation we’re in. Winning will calm us to look at the mid-table places and we don’t want to miss opportunities.

“You want people to know it’s important to do things right and to win and the opponent can’t afford too many luxuries and that has to work in our favour.

“We want a game of huge concentration and attention because we know we can hurt Almeria. We can’t let the match be open because Almeria have a lot of speed in attack and like a lot of teams that do, they know how to exploit it well.”
