Nuno banking on home form

Valencia Coach Nuno Santo insists his team welcome Barcelona with the intention of playing to beat the Catalans.

Los Che are without a win in their last two League games but Nuno told the Press that they remain strong at Mestalla and back themselves to win regardless of the opposition.

“We have five wins and a draw at home, where we have a lot of strength,” he said, AS reports.

“Our only intention is to win, whoever the opponent. We’re prepared for the game.

“They’re a team with very good players in midfield and the full-backs get forward a lot.

“We’ve spent a lot of time thinking about ourselves, about the things we’re doing better and better.”

Nuno conceded however that with Lionel Messi lining up for the visitors, Valencia will have to be on their mettle.

He also rejected the suggestion that Valencia’s lack of goals of late – scoring once in their last two games – is a problem.

“Whenever Messi is on the pitch he is very dangerous. He only stops being dangerous when he doesn’t play. He deserves our full attention,” Nuno added.

“I’m not worried about the lack of goals. I know they will come.”
