Negredo: Goals not an obsession

Alvaro Negredo has insisted that breaking his Valencia duck is not becoming an 'obsession'.

The striker joined Los Che on deadline day in August, but a foot injury carried over from his time at Manchester City ruled him out of the side’s first six matches this season.

The fact remains that Negredo has not scored since January, but he is adamant his first goals will arrive 'sooner or later' as Valencia prepare to face Barcelona in La Liga on Sunday.

"Not for having represented Real Madrid do I feel anti-Barca," he told AS.

"Simply put, I'm just a striker who lives for goals, and against Barcelona I want to make my mark, like I would against Levante or any other club.

"I appreciate the confidence I've felt here since day one, despite being injured upon my arrival.

"I know the goal will come, sooner or later, I'm not obsessed about it.”
