West Ham striker on Malaga radar

Malaga are being linked with a January move for West Ham United striker Mauro Zarate, according to Canal Sur radio.

The Costa del Sol outfit are short on attacking options following injuries to Nordin Amrabat and Juanmi that could keep both players out for the next two months, with only Roque Santa Cruz and Ezequiel Rescaldani as recognised frontmen in Javi Gracia’s squad.

As a result, they are keeping an eye on Zarate’s situation with the Hammers, where he has started just four Premier League games this season, and would be looking to take the former Lazio and Inter player on loan.

Zarate, 27, joined the Londoners from his first club Velez Sarsfield in the summer, having finished the season as top scorer in the Primera Division Torneo Finals with 13 goals in 19 games.

Malaga and West Ham have forged close links since the clubs met in the Schalke Cup in Gelsenkirchen during the summer, and United boss Sam Allardyce has already run the rule over Los Blanquiazules left-back Vitorino Antunes and striker Ezequiel Rescaldani.
