Uruguay seek Suarez ban talks

The Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) are planning talks with FIFA to try and get Luis Suarez’s international ban reduced.

The Barcelona striker can now play for his club but is still serving a nine-game ban with the national team following his bite on Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup in Brazil.

AUF President Wilmar Valdez has travelled to Zurich for talks with FIFA President Sepp Blatter and will discuss, among other things, the issue of Suarez’s sanction.

“The Suarez issue is politically complicated,” explained Valdez to Sport 890 FM.

“The idea is to speak with FIFA’s legal counsel to try and reverse the situation, although the reason we are here is to put four or five different points to President Blatter.”
