Enrique: APOEL a stumbling block

Luis Enrique feels Barcelona’s Champions League clash with APOEL Nicosia on Tuesday could prove a stumbling block.

The Catalans struggled to a 1-0 home win over the Cypriots in their first Group F game but have already qualified for the next stage. However, the Barca boss believes his players will again need to break down dogged opponents if they are to stand a chance of topping the group at the expense of Paris Saint-Germain.

“It will be very similar to the Camp Nou and it will be a game where there won’t be much space, and that always causes you problems.

“We need the points to be top of the group and APOEL are a stumbling block before we face up to the necessity of beating PSG,” he told a Press conference.

Barca had been struggling for form before the 5-1 weekend demolition of Sevilla and Enrique refused to say if his team have turned the corner.

“Unfortunately there will always be difficult moments. Hopefully, it doesn’t turn out that way but it would be naive to think they won’t return,” he commented, before being asked

his opinion on how he his front three were developing.

“Given that Lionel Messi and Neymar have played together for some time and Luis Suarez has already acquired a profile at Ajax and Liverpool, it doesn’t surprise me what we are seeing.

“But don’t forget Pedro, Munir, Sandro…amongst others,” he replied.
