Bale: I’ve improved next to Cristiano

Gareth Bale believes he has improved as a footballer by playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid.

The Welshman left Tottenham Hotspur for Madrid in September 2013 for a reported world-record fee of €91m and feels the chance to share a dressing room with the Portuguese star is the best thing about being at the club.

“To learn from the best player in the world is incredible. He has helped me to become a better player and his attitude towards me since I arrived in the Madrid dressing room has been fantastic.

“He also advised me on where to live in Madrid,” Bale told the Daily Telegraph in comments reported by Marca.

The 25-year-old also explained the reasons he left White Hart Lane for La Liga and how he is liking the change in climate.

“I was only ready to leave Tottenham for Real Madrid. I wanted to win trophies and that’s what I’ve done.

“Winning the Champions League was a unique feeling. I’ve seen my goal against Atletico Madrid several times and ask myself how I didn’t break my knees in celebration.

“I’m also enjoying the weather here, although when you go onto the training ground in summer you are already sweating.”
