‘Messi unique & unrepeatable’

Luis Enrique has described Lionel Messi as a one-of-a-kind after the Barcelona forward set a new La Liga goals record.

Messi’s hat-trick in the 5-1 win over Sevilla took him past Telmo Zarra’s 251 and Enrique waxed lyrical about the forward in his post-match Press conference.

“There are plenty of Messi goals that I like. For years I’ve said I’ve not seen a player like this. He is unmatched by any player I’ve ever seen,” AS quotes the Coach saying.

“He will be a unique and unrepeatable player. Now we have him and we enjoy him. I thought no one would beat Zarra and look…

“I like to live in the present and it is wonderful. For me Messi is the best player ever.

“There’s no controversy. Messi knows the fans hold him very dear. He feels very comfortable here.”

On the match itself, Enrique rejected the suggestion Barca were stronger in the second half than the first and insisted he wasn’t concerned that Luis Suarez has yet to score for the club.

“It was a very complete game in all aspects of the game. We have had a lot of chances and the opponent didn’t create much danger,” he noted.

“I’ll take the whole match. I don’t know if the second half was better or not. This is the line [to continue on].

“Suarez will score. Having a player of this quality and this generosity is a wonder. Everyone is for everyone else and I have no doubt he will score many goals for Barca.

“Sevilla didn’t create much danger. Players have to attack as well as defend. This victory is built on good play and intensity.

“It was key after Sevilla scored to score on our next attack. That gave us peace of mind and meant we could play at the same pace.”
