Sevilla midfielder Vitolo admitted Barcelona were the better side and deserved their 5-1 win and commended Lionel Messi for a new goal record.
Messi became the leading La Liga scorer in history with the second goal of his hat-trick, going past Telmo Zarra, and Vitolo told reporters that when he’s in the mood, Messi is like no player he has ever seen before.
“Tonight they were far superior to us. Messi has been very good. When he feels like it he is a player from another planet,” he said, AS reports.
“He won the match. It was his best game of the season. He hadn’t been like he was today all year.
“We could have done better after getting level but eventually they got their second and didn’t stop. It’s hard because we have fallen short.
“It would have been different if we didn’t concede so soon.”
