Garitano: Scoreline was harsh

Gaizka Garitano insisted Eibar were hard done by during their 4-0 defeat to Real Madrid in Liga this evening.

The new boys had their fair share of chances to inflict damage on Los Blancos but were ultimately made to pay for their profligacy, yet the Coach was adamant that fine margins were the only 'differences' between the two teams.

“We were punished a lot, it wasn't a 4-0 match. We conceded four goals from giving very little away, that was the only difference.

“Between both boxes, there weren't many differences. We were fine with the ball, but we took too long in our rivals' area without forcing the issue enough.

“Until the first goal, we were evenly matched. We reached their box as much as they reached ours, but then there were differences.

“We always felt like we were in the game, these teams don't need anything to score a goal.

“I'm happy with what the lads have done, but football is about what happens in the box.”

The build-up to Madrid's fourth goal was questionable, as an adjudged handball on Cristiano Ronaldo's free kick appeared non-existent in replays, but Garitano preferred to focus on Eibar's upcoming games.

“We won't get involved, we must look to the future. The team did good things,” he continued.

“For the people, these games are like wars. Let's play our games like finals from now.

“Hopefully the stadium will always be full. The difficulties will be much harder than people think.”
