Moyes ‘excited’ for La Real debut

David Moyes has admitted there are some nerves ahead of his first game as Real Sociedad Coach, against Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday.

Moyes was appointed to replace Jagoba Arrasate prior to the international break and travels with his new side to Riazor.

The former Everton and Manchester United manager has given his first pre-match Press conference as La Real Coach and has spoken of his first week training the squad.

“I enjoyed it a lot with the players. They have been very open and I gather they’re like sponges, they want information,” Moyes said, AS reports.

“We have worked hard, but the harder we work the more successful we’ll be.

“This week was easy. It wasn’t very intense but I’ll be increasing the speed and the intensity. I want to move the ball down the pitch faster but I can’t do it all in one week. We have to work harder.

“What I see is a team that played very well against Atletico Madrid and it has brought a high degree of confidence. I’m worried about not winning so we have to make changes from now.

“I’m really looking forward to learning more about La Liga. It gives me a great thrill and it means a lot and people in the city have come up to me and said hello.

“There are a lot of people, not only in the UK but here as well, who think this job was a good choice. But of course now we have to win games.

“I see it as something exciting. I’m nervous too but I get good vibes from the players and the club. I’m happy to be here. I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far.”

Moyes admitted that he wasn’t fully versed in Deportivo yet and thanked B team Coach and former caretaker of the senior side Asier Santana for his help.

“I didn’t know that much about Deportivo. I’ve watched videos and scouting information. We’ve studied them. I’m really ready for the game,” the Scot said.

“I need Santana to help me. He did a great job. I don’t know how long he’ll be with us but I need to know more about the players. I need people around me. Things are different here with respect to England.”
