Xabi Alonso has revealed some of the reasons he left Real Madrid for Bayern Munich last summer.
In an interview with Sport Bild, the midfielder discussed some of the issues that persuaded him to swap the Santiago Bernabeu for the Allianz Arena in August.
“There were several things: the crowds, the atmosphere on the pitch, the stadiums, which are very exciting, and the chance to win a third Champions League with three different teams.
“And I’ve been surprised that the fans can go and watch us train. I didn’t see this at Liverpool or Real Madrid.
“There is no laughter as they respect our work and know we need peace of mind, which is something worth mentioning.”
Alonso said he is also looking forward to playing alongside Bastian Schweinsteiger, who has been out injured since his arrival.
“I want to win a lot and we need a good balance with him in midfield for the whole team to function,” he explained.
