Xavi: I want to be a Coach

Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez has revealed that he wants to get into coaching when he calls time on his playing career.

“I’m 34 and turn 35 in January so I’ve not got much playing time left,” commented the Spain international in an interview with TV3.

“I want to enjoy this stage of my career to the maximum because everyone says it is the best.

“When I hang up my boots I’m going to study to become a Coach and learn English. After that we’ll see but I want to be involved in football and with Barcelona.”

Xavi was asked about his decision to remain with the Blaugrana this summer despite rumours he was about to leave the club.

“The sports management side was the key element and the subject was raised about whether I would go.

“We thought maybe it was the right time for me to leave, to leave the club and to leave Barca, but sometimes the feelings take over,” he explained.
