Prieto wants La Real win streak

Xabi Prieto wants Real Sociedad to use the win over Atletico Madrid and the arrival of David Moyes to build up a run of form.

The Basques struggled at the start of the season and Jagoba Arrasate paid the price with his job, former Everton and Manchester United manager Moyes last week appointed in his place.

Prieto has welcomed Moyes’ arrival after consulting former Everton captain Arteta on the Scot, and hopes the team’s form is about to pick up.

“The win over Atletico did us good and gave us some peace, because it’s difficult when you’re down there when you should be higher, fighting for better things,” the captain told Marca.

“You look down, seeing what’s happening, and you’re not winning games, and you lose confidence and feel the pressure and the anxiety that works against you.

“But fortunately we got a great win against Atletico and that has allowed us to work better this week, while we wait for Moyes.

“Why didn’t we win for eight games? A little of everything. We can’t blame everything on bad luck, but there were games at Anoeta where the team played very well and had chances, but lacked efficiency.

“It’s true that away from home we weren’t good but we also deserved more from some of these games.

“The three points [against Atletico] were important but we want them to be the first of a reaction that takes us up and win again.”
