Del Bosque: Spain respect Belarus

Vicente Del Bosque isn’t taking Belarus lightly as Spain continue working for a place at Euro 2016 with Saturday’s match in Huelva.

Del Bosque told his pre-match Press conference that his memories of playing the same opposition in qualifying for World Cup 2014 mean he isn’t expecting an easy ride.

“It’s clear we respect Belarus. They have the resources to make it a difficult match,” the Coach said, according to AS.

“We expect the support of the fans, who have welcomed us so well. We are ready to get an important three points.

“13 months ago they were hard to beat in Palma. We expect a team with a good defence, fitness and a threat on the counter-attack.”

Del Bosque was asked about his attacking options, with little experience at international level among the group of forwards named.

“We have people on the wings and in the centre who are very young, but they’re also seasoned people for playing at this level,” he replied.

“There are players in the squad who can get down the wings, players who can dribble. We will use all of our resources.

“We’ve had injuries in all areas but mostly in attack. I brought the players I thought I should bring.”

It was put to Del Bosque that the squad named is lacking in leaders, particularly in light of the absences in the group, but he insisted that having been close to the players in the last few days, there is no issue.

“Leaders appear naturally with their behaviour,” the veteran boss remarked.

“I heard there was a bomb going to go off in the national team but I’ve watched the players and I don’t think that is the case.

“All of this talk catches me off guard.”
