Negredo: Los Che goals will come

Alvaro Negredo is convinced he will start scoring goals soon as he settles into life at Valencia following his summer loan move from Manchester City.

The 29-year-old has recently returned to action with three appearances from the bench, having arrived at the club with a long-term injury, but believes it will not be long before he rediscovers his goalscoring touch.

“I’m keen to get off the mark, although I’m not worried about it, and despite not scoring for a while I feel good and the goals will soon come,” he told a Press conference.

“The truth is that I’m feeling a lot better, maybe not 100 per cent, but the Coach has a way of playing that suits us and little by little I’m improving.

“I really want to contribute so that he can totally rely on me because I no longer have any injury problems.

“I’m fine, but three months without playing is a long time and it’s all about competing. The injury is forgotten, I’m happy, and looking forward to the future.”

Negredo, unlike his teammates in recent weeks, believes Valencia are still in contention for La Liga and feels it is not just about the big three of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.

“I’d like to think it is a five-team League but it’s going to be difficult, especially with the way Madrid have been playing and with Barca being ahead of us, but we must work hard all season and take Atletico Madrid last year as an example.

“We’re really excited to be up there and whether we remain at the top depends entirely on ourselves,” he claimed.
