Del Bosque: Too many foreigners

Vicente del Bosque believes there are too many foreign players operating in La Liga after watching the recent El Clasico.

The Spain boss, speaking ahead of his country’s Euro 2016 clash with Belarus on Saturday, lamented the fact his options of selecting players from the top sides were becoming increasingly limited.

“I loved El Clasico and we saw some excellent football as well as some moment of weakness in both teams – first Real Madrid and then Barcelona,” he told a Press conference.

“What I did notice is that Madrid are really strong and Barca faded, but we should be proud to have two fantastic teams.

“However, there are only four Spanish players at each club and it’s a similar situation at Atletico Madrid, Sevilla and Valencia.

“There are too many foreigners in La Liga right now, although I’m not against them coming over here. On the other hand it’s great for the youth academies.

“When the economy suffers then investing in the youth teams could save clubs a lot of money, which is why they are working harder as there is no other solution.”
