Bruno “proud” over La Roja call-up

Villarreal captain Bruno Soriano declared himself “very proud” on his return to the Spain national team squad.

The 30-year-old midfielder, who has four international caps buthas been overlooked for the past two and a half years, has been brought in to replace the injured Cesc Fabregas after the Chelsea man returned to London having failed a medical.

“I’m going to give my best to help the national side and I promise effort, hard work and sacrifice,” he told reporters.

“I’ll contribute all I can so it turns out well and I’m proud to be able to pull on a Spain shirt once more after such a long time.”

Bruno’s last appeared for the national side in May 2012 when Spain played friendlies against Serbia and South Korea.

Boss Vicente del Bosque will now have him available for Saturday’s Euro 2016 qualifier with Belarus and the friendly with Germany three days later.
